It's World Chocolate Day. Do I need to say anymore?

I thought it was the perfect excuse to visit our local chocolatrie and make believe I was Veruca Salt for the day. Moorabool Valley Chocolates have been crafting the brown gold for over 10 years. Take a short cruise just out of Geelong, to Batesford, to find this cafe and chocolate shop full of chocolate decadence. The venue is located on a horse agistment farm known as 'Bellerive' on the Midland Highway. Customers can watch the horses from inside the cafe, or on the outside deck.

But let’s be honest, I’m here for the chocolate.

How do you take your chocolate?

White. Dark. Milk. In cakes, chocolate bars, hot chocolate, iced chocolate, ice cream, chocolate mousse, nougat, donuts, milkshakes, or chocolate fondue. But don’t be disheartened if you have allergies, because the team at Moorbaool Valley Chocolate want to make everybody's chocolate dreams come true. They create many vegan and sugar free products as well.

I’m a dark chocolate girl all the way!

It's no surprise that the busiest time of year for Moorabool Valley Chocolate is over Easter, but people visit all year round and they can order bespoke chocolate designs for their own special occasion. Giant footballs, wedding cake toppers, globes of the world, chocolate letters, animals and even chocolate high heels for the ultimate shoe devotee.

Apart from drooling over chocolate, you can sit down in their pretty cafe to enjoy lunch either outside on their deck or over winter inside next to their wood burner. If you turn up on the right day you might even see them cooking their scones in the wood burner. They make almost everything from scratch, including their bread, and people love their pies, quiches, savoury muffins or a ploughmans lunch.

But of course, the list of sweet temptations trumps any savoury cravings.

I think on World Chocolate Day I'll be ordering a Mexican hot chocolate, chocolate drizzled waffles and a big bag of chocolate treats to take away.

If you are hunting down other chocolate treasures around the region, make sure you pop into The Pier View Lolly Shop in Portarlington, and gather an amazing hamper of goodies at The Food Purveyor in Geelong.

Happy World Chocolate Day!

Forget love. I'd rather fall in chocolate.
